These are some of Christina's most memorable and
meaningful quotes. She always speaks her mind whether it be from
a song, public function, or magazine article. This is what makes
her so wonderful!!

I was born in Staten Island, New York. But I call my hometown Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania, because that's basically where I ended up from age
eight on. But right after Staten Island... I've lived everywhere
from Texas, to Japan for three years, to New Jersey. I'm this traveling
girl. My father was in the Army, so I guess I'm an Army brat.
I've been singing and performing ever since I was in diapers, basically.
I mean, from laying a towel on the floor in the bathroom and using
the shampoo bottle as a microphone, to local block parties and talent
shows and things like that, and to "Star Search," "[The
New] Mickey Mouse Club," and the record deal.
Being a Mouseketeer on the "Mickey Mouse Club" was cool.
I was on for ages twelve and thirteen. I was on the last two seasons,
and I was in pretty good company, with fellow Mouseketeers Britney
Spears, J. C. and Justin from 'N Sync, Keri Russell from "Felicity."
So we all had fun on that show.
"There is not truth to the rumors that we hate each other.
I have no ill feeling for Britney and vice versa. I am proud of
all the achievements she has made in her career, she is a very hard
working person. I have nothing, but love for her."
"It's disgusting and offensive and above all it's not true."
- about Eminem's lyrics in "The Real Slim Shady" which
contained sexual references about her
"It's the closest I ever got to being in a girl group."
- about singing the remake of "Lady Marmalade" with Pink,
Mya and Lil Kim.
"I like to be edgy, I like to be different. I'm a little bit
of rebel."
"The big hair paid off!" (after winning an MTV Award
for the video "Lady Marmalade, shared with singers Mya, Pink,
and Lil' Kim) "Hold your head high and sway your hips when
you walk!"
"I have a lot of aggression in me that needs to come out in
a not-very-precise or articulate way," says the petite blonde
in the pink sleeveless sweater. "Like, there's one track where
I'm screaming at the top of my lungs, kind of like Courtney Love.
It's crazy."
"Whenever you're new to a label and 17, as I was at the time,
you're kind of told what to do,"
"I just get really bored with sticking to the norm and having
the proper conservative image. That's just so not me. When 'Lady
Marmalade' came out, so many executives were like, 'She can't do
this.' 'It's too Rockwilder and Missy.' 'It's too urban.' And I
was like, 'I'm doing it.' Even with certain outfits that I wear,
or speaking openly about my past ... I'm not going to sit there
and lie. Whether you like me or hate me, that's me.
"Seeing firsthand how crazy this business can be kind of makes
you grow up a little faster. In my case, I feel like it's brought
me down to Earth, just 'cause I see how fake things can be, or how
unreal it is. That's why this record is so important."
There's always drama no matter what, but, you know, it seemed pretty
cool, but before I came out, I know I had management fly out, and
they were going to check out the show and see what the vibe was
like, and it was cool. I mean, who knows? A lot of press wants to
create drama too. I know that.
At times it really is overwhelming. I mean, the schedule alone,
and the loneliness of it too. You're living out of suitcases, hotel
rooms, you know? Different city every day, and it's tough.
I do keep a journal that keeps me in touch with myself, and I'm
always writing down thoughts and ideas, which then I turn into song
lyrics and things like that. But also, my priest gave me this cross
from back home, which I keep under my pillow sometimes. I'm afraid
of the dark, so... it's just as a little bit of protection
I want the kids to see a side of me that they haven't seen yet.
"Genie In A Bottle" will be done differently, sometimes.
We'll put some cool Arabian intonations into the whole vibe of it,
to get people into a Middle Eastern mood. And then, of course, I
can also do my piano ballads that couldn't be on the record, such
as the Etta James song that I love to cover, "At Last."
Certain people want to see me as solely a pop act, but there are
many different sides to Christina Aguilera besides the pop girl.
The more I grow and continue to show different sides of myself,
the more I'll get a variety of fans of all ages. And that will be
something I'm really looking forward to getting into.
the Spanish side of me is something I'm really interested in tapping
into, and getting to explore. I'm still learning the language to
its fullest. But "Genie In A Bottle" of course will be
translated, and "I Turn To You," the ballad that will
be the third or fourth single, will be translated.
in my spare time I really like to write, and I've gone back and
seen some of the producers and they're all congratulating me, and
at the same time, you know, the next record will be rolling around,
and I'm really interested in co-writing. This album was so rushed
together. I had no time to co-write and put a lot of my own ideas
into it, because the songs were basically picked and recorded fast
to get the record out there fast. But the record turned out great
anyway, I think. I'm proud of it.
Whenever you work with so many different people at once, it's a
little confusing, because certain people have their own ways of
doing things. You have to remember what ways are whose. But you
do take a little something from each person you work with, and it's
really cool with what you end up having. All the knowledge that
you end up storing after working with so many people, and taking
a piece from all of them. It's really, really cool.
